Tank God
Most kids let off steam after finishing their finals by going out to the bar with their group of friends and waking up with an incredible hangover and the previous nights shenanigans a blur. But for the case of 20-year old producer Tank God it was something else, a want to succeed. And so the then sophomore at the University of Hartford went back to his dorm after taking that last final and popped open Fruity Loops Studio onto his MacBook Pro and immediately got to work. That drive had immediately changed his life, even though it didn't happen then it happened 9 months later when "rockstar" went from a template to a worldwide hit.
Debuting at #2 on Billboard, #1 on the Spotify Global Chart (55 million streams) and #1 (25 million streams) on Apple Music this all happened from a chance run-in Times Square, at Quad Recording Studios, by Tank God and Post Malone who bumped into each other at the pool table in the lobby. Three days after his final and a 90% finished instrumental, Tank headed from Hartford into Manhattan to link with his longtime friend Christian "King Combs" Combs for a session at Quad.
Taking a break from recording, Tank headed into the lobby to grab a drink and play a quick game of pool when Post Malone exited his room where he was recording. The two briefly chopped it up in the lobby, when Post got a great vibe from Tank and told him, "Let's get weird, play me some of your beats." After playing the beat that made “rockstar” first, Post immediately fell in love with the instrumental and laid down his verse and hook. Being at the right place at the right time, Tank's life immediately changed forever. Apple Music’s Carl Chery stated to The Verge on September 25, 2017 that "rockstar" featuring 21 Savage was the most streamed song in one week of all-time on Apple Music with 25 million+ streams on that platform alone.
In July of 2017, prior to the release of "rockstar", Tank released his Tank God project; which featured Swizz Beatz, Rich The Kid, King Combs and more. Moving forward Tank continues to stay genuine and authentic to his craft, knowing this is a numbers game and has some large placements in the pipeline to continue the success. Keep an eye on the kid from the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan as he has his eye out for global domination with the team of London Entertainment behind him; as it was Post Malone who brought it to his manager Dre London’s attention that Tank was a diamond in the rough.
